Design Project Four: Not a Pun, It's Real Life

Designing Health Solutions for the Community

Design Project Four required our team to apply concepts and develop a solution that addresses a need for a member, Ms. Liu, of the local community. Along with identifying and solving a real-world problem, we were expected to use thoughtful assessment of the client's needs to deliver a well thought out solution. To meet the objective, our team completed the following:

Translate the need of a member of the local community into a well-defined problem.
Design a solution to meet the needs of the local community member.
Justify why our design meets the needs of the local community member.

The final deliverable of the project required the following:

Demonstrating our design by means of a high-fidelity prototype
Documenting our design and the design process through finalized product design specification
Presenting the design through a prepared 8-minute oral presentation

The milestones, final deliverable, and logbook for Design Project Four have been posted below to document our team's journey to collaboratively incorporate our creativity and ideas to develop a conceptual design by coding and Autodesk Inventor to produce a high-fidelity prototype.

“Liu’s Clues” is a mobile application made to help Ms. Liu with tracking her symptoms. Liu’s Clues provides that description to the patient's physicians by placing them in the shoes of the patient. This app is a real-time implementation of internet medical care that helps physicians effectively learn more about their patient’s illness. Essentially, this app is a smart logbook for physician-patient relationships.

This app is fully functional while being user-friendly and will offer a comprehensive solution to the needs of Ms. Liu. It will provide an effective and reliable tool for diagnosis and keeping track of symptoms. With the extensive feature set, Liu’s Clues is equipped to serve a wide range of patients and is agile enough to enable physicians to address the specific needs of one patient at a time.
